Last night while waiting for Mercer to get home I got out some old craft paper & decided we were going to make a few paper snow flakes.  I recently saw a quick tutorial here & used that as a guide. Mostly on how to fold the paper correctly.  From there we just messed around with different ways of cutting them.  Some were prettier than others.  This definitely isn’t a project for perfectionists.

I let MJ color a few pieces of the paper first to make them extra pretty snow flakes.

Voila! Yes, that is cheezy red garland you see on my window. I can’t get rid of it. It reminds me of my child hood! We stuck the snow flakes on our back window.  Milo loves them, he loves them so much he pushes a chair up to the window & tries to rip them down!

Recently one of my Nephews on Mercer’s side was doing some sort of class project that had him looking into the “Family Tree”. OK, so maybe he was doing a Family Tree Project? Yeah I don’t know. Sounds good though….  Anyways, he found something that interested us!

Mercers family wasn’t close with either set of grandparents so they were never really involved in his or his siblings lives all too much. But, his Great Aunt Aggy (I believe his Mom’s Aunt) was very close with them. She lived with them off and on for years and she always acted as their grandparent.  Aggy lived to be 101 and died shortly after his family moved from the Bay Area to here.

When we stayed at Mercer’s parents house for a while last year Milo’s room there was Aggy’s old room.  I’m convinced Aggy used to stop in to see him sometimes. I would here seriously strange things on the baby monitor sometimes! Tangent!

So after some research on My nephew’s part they found that (I’m probably going to get this wrong but here’s my best shot) Aggy’s Great Uncle’s Name was MILO!  I’m pretty sure it’s her Great Uncle but, I could be wrong. Someone way down the line at least!

We thought that was really neat. Mercer & I really like Family names when naming children. Milo’s middle name is the same as Mercer’s & now we found he has a family name x2. We were happy to hear it & really just found it fascinating. I feel like I know of a few “Milo’s” only through the blogging world but, in real life I don’t know any aside from my own.  I don’t feel like his name is too common & it was neat to think that someone liked that name long ago in our family too!

After finding this out it really made me want to look into my family tree as well. Maybe after the holidays when life is a little less busy I can take some time to see if I can dig up some interesting stuff with my family history!

If you follow me on twitter then you’ve heard me whining for a few days now. MJ is sick. He’s had a cold before but this time was different…This time is REAL sick. Monday morning I had myself convinced he had croup thanks to Dr. WebMD. I got him in to his new doctor ASAP. I’m still not sure how I feel about her. She is wacky to say the least. Bugged out eyes, Too much bad plastic surgery, hopped up on way too much of something,  &  she talks like Camille from RHWBH (start at :50). But in more of a manly voice. Read the rest of this entry…
