Happy Friday, Friends.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend! It shall be a busy but great one.

Saturday afternoon I’m getting together with my 2 BFFs for some much needed girl time over pedicures and lunch!  It’s been far too long since I’ve had someone work some magic on my feet, really looking forward to doing something just for ME.

Saturday evening we are dropping Nuggy Boy off with his Grandparents for a few hours while Mercer and I go out on a date! I’ve almost forgotten what one of those is it has been that long. Fancy pants dinner here we come!

Sunday we are heading to my cousin’s for her son’s 2nd Birthday!  He is just five weeks older than Milo and I love when they get to play together! So we are really looking forward to that!

I hope you all get to do something fun or relaxing this weekend!

xoxo

AND this song completely reminds me of hanging out with girlfriends and I LOVE IT! Awesome song.  It’s getting me really excited for my best friend’s bachelorette party at the end of May in Santa Cruz! EEEK. 3 days of debauchery!

Big things have been happening around the Hawks Nest this weekend.

Saturday morning we came to get MJ up out of bed and noticed that he thought he was Baby Tarzan once again. We didn’t want to risk him getting hurt and since he had previously proven himself to be a rock-star at sleeping, we decided it was big boy bed time.

I consulted the Twittersphere and was advised that straight to a twin bed was the best way to go. We spent all Saturday preparing his big boy bed.  Saturday night? Seamless,  I tell you.  Mercer and I did many a high-fives after he was in bed, gloating around with celebratory wine in hand, and maybe a few tears from me.

Snoozin’ away in his big boy bed.  Oy, my heart is a puddle on the floor.  My baby is growing up too fast.  He needed ALL his ‘babies’ and favorite blankies with him that night.

Saturday was a bit of a treat.  Sunday I was out for a few hours at a Bridal Expo with my BFF who is getting married in July! (squeeeee)  Daddy had to do the first nap in the new bed.  Nap didn’t happen.  OK, OK.  We expected this a little.  Night time was rough too.  It took us an hour to get him to sleep Sunday night, finally conked out after I rocked him for a few minutes.  Monday, no nap.  Bedtime went much faster though.  Cried for 5 minutes at the door, I picked him up, rocked him to sleep and he stayed that way for the rest of the night.  Once he’s asleep it’s no problem.  Today, Tuesday, is the first time he has napped.  I put him down about 30 minutes ago.  He came to the door & whined for a few minutes, shut the door and is now sleeping!!!!! Baby steps of success!  I should add that Sunday we moved a baby gate to the outside of his door.  We didn’t want to risk him waking up in the middle of the night & him getting into something that could hurt him.

In other news we decided to impromptu potty train this morning.  He was playing with his potty in the living room and we took his diaper off of him.  He refused to put it on for three hours.  Three hours later, no accidents.  No potty.  I put him on the big potty and then ended up moving him to his little potty in the bathroom.  HE PEED! He PEED!!!!   I was so proud of him I kind of startled him with my shouts of happiness!  When we are at home I think we are going to let him rum diaper-less from now on.  I’m home with him all day, he’s starting to “get it”.  There’s no reason why I can’t make the effort to make this work.  I’m tired of buying diapers and even more tired of changing diapers.  Last night he had the nastiest blow out ever that ended with him in the shower with his pajamas on.  OVER THAT!  I know this is just the very start of a long road but, I’m excited about it.

We have had so many Milo-stones the past few days.  He’s totally growing up.  My fears I had while I was pregnant, of him not thriving like he should and not knowing what to do with him have been squashed, and that’s a great feeling!

Milo is 20 & 1/2 months.

I came across this great thrift store a few months ago that I had always kept in my head saying “remember to go there one day”.

Well, today I remembered. Oh man, this place was huge! Including a little corner of the store that was a consignment section.  I was oblivious to the 75% off sale that was going on until AFTER I was rung up. That made me sad. I would have bought so much more if I knew about it upon my arrival. Read the rest of this entry…

and on this Friday Morning we are currently shaking our butts to this song,

and we don’t care if you are judging us for liking MGMT.

Because anything that makes a 16 month old shake his butt is listen worthy.
